Look What’s Coming….!

It’s almost here. After nearly one year, The Linoleum People is just about to become a reality. I’ve talked about dreams, and that dreams don’t have an expiration date. Well, the shelf life of this dream has been a pretty generous one. Lots of time has gone by, and I have walked down a myriad of other paths, before finally taking the steps to explore and discover this most current adventure. The way has been interrupted by pitfalls and potholes, distractions of necessity, and postponements for unexpected occurrences. Now, I have a confirmed publication date (to be announced soon), and I am giddy with anticipation. I still don’t have a book in hand, but I am hopeful that it will be forthcoming in the next week or two. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime, let me share the last book that I wrote with you. It’s a very personal book, just for myself and family, but the concept of the book is open to anyone. It’s called, If a Picture is Worth 1,000 Words….Why Not Write Them Down? It’s a great exercise in writing, and a fun way to reminisce about special moments. Out of over 23,000 photos on my computer, I chose 21 photos and wrote 1,000 words, or thereabouts, describing each one. What did I see in the photo? How did the photo make me feel? What was significant in the photo, and what did I learn from my deep dive into the photo? The process was quite revealing, and I was often quite surprised by the words and feelings that came to my mind. I’ll share with you one photo, and one paragraph from it’s accompanying essay, as a teaser to maybe encourage you to look at something/anything in a different way, and record on paper, or in your mind a thought, suggestion or epiphany that might just make that a noteworthy moment.

Autumn Leaves

“A few minutes with a rake in the backyard, doing a job, just getting it done. And then, a miracle. An awakening to gladness, to gratitude, to a consciousness of a Heavenly Parent’s love. As a child in Primary, I sang about leafy treetops, little purple pansies, and popcorn popping on the apricot tree. I learned at a very young age that I truly am glad that I live in this beautiful world, Heavenly Father created for me. I’ll never rake leaves again without thinking of this special gift. I won’t take for granted the magical moments that are placed in my path, I’ll look closely for the hand of God, and treasure the sweet surprises He sends to touch my heart.”
